From Nicole: If you have children swimming in the bay, bring water shoes! Nothing too sharp, just lots of shells in the surf.

This is an island, and it is surrounded by water. That can make it prone to mosquitoes. Though we treat for mosquitoes, there are quite a few ponds and low-lying areas, and mosquitoes can fly quite a distance in one evening. That said, here are some insect repellant recommendations. No Natz, Buggins Insect Repellant, and Marsh Romance are repellants. Some recommend Avon's Skin so Soft. I, personally, prefer the No Natz. It works better that the No Mosquitoes that is usually in the display with it. If you are not from the area, then you need to know that there is also a little insect called No-See-Ums. You really can't see them! They are super tiny, but if you feel like something is biting you, and you can't see it... There you go. No Natz works on them! No-See-Ums do not cause any itchy bites like mosquitoes; they are just annoying.
